Kidneys are the two most important organs of the body, placed on either side of your lower back. They are responsible for filtering blood and eliminating waste materials from the body, which is essential for the proper functioning of our body.
With age, our kidneys start working less but at times this can also happen due to certain underlying health conditions. While the only way to know if your kidneys are working fine is by getting it tested, several physical signs can also reveal if you are suffering from any kidney problems. Here are 5 early signs your body gives you when your kidneys are crying for help:
1. Fatigue
A healthy kidney produces erythropoietin which is a vital hormone who increases the red blood cell number. A decrease of your red blood cells number can lead to anemia and fatigue.
2. Shortness of breath
Shortness of breaths is caused by the low red blood cells number. If you do not have enough red blood cells, you will get a smaller amount of oxygen in your body and this will lead to shortness of breaths.
3. Swelling
If your kidney does not work properly the excess fluids will stay in the blood and this fact can cause swelling of the face, joints and limbs.
4. Pain
If you feel any pain in the kidney surrounding area you may have kidney stones or any kind of urinary tract infection.
5. Urine changes
If your kidneys are in danger, your urine can be pale color, foamy or dark. Also you can urinate in small or large amounts frequently and you may feel some pressure during urinating.
