King Charles’ health is failing, prompting Buckingham Palace officials to maintain an up-to-date plan for his imminent f.u.n.e.r.a.l, which began the day after Queen Elizabeth was buried, according to sources.
The 75-year-old king has stayed out of the spotlight since disclosing his can:cer diagnosis in February to conceal his deteriorating health, with various insiders telling the Daily Beast that the situation is “not good.”
King Charles has never stated what illness he has been diagnosed with, but he has admitted that it is not prostate can:cer, one of the most treatable types of the disease.
The Firm has also been tight-lipped about his medical trip, although well-placed insiders and political observers have publicly commented about how the king is “responding really well” to treatment.
Behind the scenes, however, King Charles’ advisors are constantly studying copies of a several hundred-page document documenting his royal funeral plans, known as “Operation Menai Bridge.”
The incredibly thorough document was written the day following Queen Elizabeth’s burial on September 8, 2022, and uses the longest-serving queen’s f.u.n.e.r.a.l as a field guide to ensure Charles’ runs more smoothly.
Military officials confirmed to the Daily Beast that Operation Menai Bridge is updated daily, but highlighted that this was usual procedure and that it would be “absurd to read anything into” it.
All royal members of the plan have updated funeral plans that are classified by bridge-related codewords, with Queen Elizabeth’s being “Operation London Bridge.”
The former Prince of Wales’ d.e.a.t.h plan is titled after the suspension bridge that connects Anglesey to the Welsh mainland.
Insiders speculate on tensions between Charles and William, and if the prince is ready to ascend the throne. “Charles knows the pressures of being the monarch, and he just isn’t sure William is ready to take his place,” a source told me. This ambiguity, combined with continuous public relations issues, complicates the monarchy’s future.
