Lukas Nelson, Willie Nelson’s son, is a member of the rock and roll band Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, which is presently touring the country. They recently entertained a small group of supporters at a local location.
The crowd asked Nelson to play songs, and he agreed. Then a customer asked him to sing his father’s popular song “Always on My Mind.” Lukas accepted the challenge.
The music begins, and Lukas instantly begins the song, sounding extremely similar to his father. His country voice boomed across the venue, leaving many in amazement.
The pianist and support band performed an excellent job, but Lukas grabbed the spotlight. To our amazement, a brief, soulful trumpet solo punctured the dismal tone and elevated the composition to a new level.
When Nelson broke into the portion of the song when he was supposed to whistle, the audience erupted in cheers. Everyone in the audience smiles as they witness this outstanding performance.
Willie Nelson first published this song almost thirty-five years ago, yet it is still a great favorite among country and western music fans. Willie has clearly passed on his musical abilities to his son, and Lukas will rise to prominence without being overshadowed by his father.
