A police officer in a small town pulled over a driver who was flying down Main Street well over the speed limit.
The driver rolled down his window and quickly said,
“Officer, I can explain!”
The officer cut him off.
“Save it. You’re going to cool off in a jail cell until the chief gets back.”
The man tried again.
“But, Officer, if you’d just let me—”
“I said be quiet! You’re going to jail!”
So off to the cell he went.
A few hours later, the officer stopped by to check on him.
Trying to cheer him up, he smiled and said,
“You’re actually pretty lucky.”
“The chief is at his daughter’s wedding today. He’ll probably be in a great mood when he gets back.”
The prisoner looked up, sighed, and shook his head.
“I wouldn’t count on that if I were you…”
The officer frowned.
“Why not?”
The man replied,
“Because… I’m the groom.” 😂
