After spending 25 years in the liquor business, Tom decided he’d had enough of people.
He sold everything, bought 50 acres in the middle of remote Alaska, and settled into a quiet life where the nearest neighbor lived 40 miles away.
For six peaceful months…
Not a single visitor.
Then one snowy afternoon…
Knock. Knock.
Standing at the door was a giant of a man with a beard that looked like it had survived three winters.
“Name’s Lars,” he said. “I’m your neighbor from about 40 miles up the road.”
He smiled.
“I’m having a Christmas party this Friday at five. Thought you might like to come.”
Tom lit up.
“I’d love to!”
Lars turned to leave, then casually added,
“Fair warning… there’ll be some drinkin’.”
Tom laughed.
“Spent 25 years in the liquor business. I think I’ll survive.”
Lars nodded.
“Probably be a little fightin’, too.”
“That’s alright,” Tom replied. “I usually get along with everyone.”
Lars scratched his beard.
“Might even be some wild sex.”
Tom’s eyes widened.
“Now that’s a party! What should I wear?”
Lars shrugged.
“Doesn’t matter…”
He grinned.
“It’s just gonna be the two of us.” 😂
