Meghan Markle Hints at Royal Life While Promoting New Business Venture
Meghan Markle appeared to take a subtle dig at the Royal Family in a recent interview while promoting her latest business endeavor. The Duchess of Sussex was an active royal from 2018 to 2020, before stepping down from her duties alongside Prince Harry and relocating to the United States.
Since their departure, the Sussexes have embarked on numerous projects, including high-profile deals with Spotify and Netflix, as well as Meghan’s latest venture, her newly launched brand, As Ever. In an interview with The New York Times, Meghan spoke about her motivation behind taking on multiple projects and why she remains in the public eye.
When asked why she continues to “put herself back under the microscope” after facing intense public scrutiny, Meghan responded simply:
“I need to work, and I love to work.”
During the conversation, Meghan seemingly referenced her past royal experience, as The New York Times reported that she emphasized she had never been without a job since the age of 13, until she met Harry.
“This is a way I can connect my home life and my work,” she explained.
The article also pointed out that financial independence plays a significant role in Meghan’s business ventures. Despite mixed success with previous Netflix projects, the streaming giant remains committed to its partnership with the Sussexes.
The Sussexes’ Netflix Journey
Harry and Meghan have been involved in five Netflix projects, but only Harry & Meghan, their revealing docuseries, and Meghan’s latest lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, have gained notable attention. Other releases, such as Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Polo, have struggled to generate similar success.
Despite these challenges, Netflix continues to support the couple, with Meghan’s lifestyle series already confirmed for a second season, set to premiere this autumn. Additionally, Netflix’s consumer products division is collaborating with her As Ever brand.
A Successful Business Launch
As Ever officially launched on Wednesday and saw its first collection sell out in under 30 minutes. Following the overwhelming response, Meghan took to Instagram to express her gratitude.
“Our shelves may be empty, but my heart is full! We sold out in less than one hour, and I can’t thank you enough… for celebrating, purchasing, sharing, and believing. It’s just the start @aseverofficial. Here we go!”
The brand’s debut collection featured a limited quantity of seasonal products, with future collections expected to follow a similar release pattern.
