The grease that builds up on walls and racks can solidify and become extremely challenging to remove as a result of the applied heat.
For oven cleaning, we typically rely on industrial degreasers or other specialized products, most of which are effective but pose health risks due to their toxicity. Below, we propose three natural methods to clean the oven thoroughly and eliminate the need for such harsh chemicals.
Disinfect and clean the oven with salt
Salt is a common kitchen ingredient that not only enhances the flavor of our dishes but also proves to be highly beneficial for household cleaning due to its degreasing and disinfectant properties.
Combine 500 milliliters of white vinegar with 250 grams of salt. Transfer this mixture into a spray bottle and shake thoroughly to ensure salt dissolution.
Spritz the solution evenly over the entire surface, including the interior of the oven, and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Subsequently, use a sponge to effectively eliminate stubborn dirt.
Conclude the cleaning process by wiping the oven with a damp cloth to eliminate any remaining residue, leaving the oven looking refreshed and almost new.
Lemon against oven grease
Apart from its disinfectant properties, lemon is an outstanding degreaser with the added ability to deodorize surfaces.
Cut three lemons in half and squeeze them. Pour the lemon juice into a saucepan and place it in the preheated oven at 250°C for about 30 minutes.
Then remove the saucepan and let the oven cool, then wipe with a damp cloth to remove all food and grease residues. Warning: make sure the saucepan is suitable for use in the oven.
The classic method: vinegar and bicarbonate
The combination of these two ingredients stands out as one of the most potent solutions for household cleaning. Both possess degreasing and disinfectant properties, effectively restoring the steel of the oven to its original appearance.
Mix 100 ml of apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a spray bottle. Wait for the effervescent reaction to finish, then spray over the entire surface of the oven.
Heat it at 120°C for about 10 minutes, then turn off and let it cool. Finally, wipe with a damp sponge to clean it thoroughly and make it look like new again.
