A boy from New York startled TikTok users with a narrative about his best friend who is a hired actress. Lawson Spolansky, who describes himself as a “embarrassing best friend” on TikTok, recently told a story about who his purported closest friend actually was.

In a video with over a million views, Spolansky recalled a story from 2012, when he was just five years old and struggling with social and behavioral challenges at school. One day in July, while playing on the playground, Spolansky fell off the monkey bars and was injured. A blonde boy approached and began to tease him, but the two lads eventually became friends.
Spolansky was shocked to see the same blonde child, whom he eventually named Dexter, seated next to him in class the following September. Their connection became stronger over time, and Spolansky began to feel more at ease and to perform better in school.
The issue grew increasingly intriguing over the years.
In 2018, Dexter told Spolansky that he intended to spend his birthday money on a trip to Paris, Spain, and Universal California. He advised Spolansky to begin preparing for the trip. However, just one day later, Dexter started making bizarre excuses for why they couldn’t travel.
Spolansky was astonished to see a photo on Instagram of Dexter and his own aunt hanging out in Hollywood. Spolansky became confused and confronted Dexter and his aunt, only to be dismissed with allegations of miscommunication.
In 2021, Spolansky’s then-boyfriend was working as a pool boy for Dexter’s putative mother. However, during his time there, he realized that the woman was not Dexter’s mother, but rather his agent.
So Dexter was actually his auntie’s bestie.
In his video, Spolansky surprised viewers by admitting that his aunt was best friends with Dexter’s true mother, whom he had never met. He also claimed that his therapist was the sister of Dexter’s agent, which added to the confusion.
Spolansky, who was distraught and battling with trust issues, expressed his surprise when he discovered that his supposed friend had been paid. He admitted that he had never really experienced genuine friendship.
The revelation stunned viewers, with some comparing the situation to “The Truman Show,” while others expressed pity for Spolansky’s young innocence being exploited by grownups.
Some viewers, however, questioned Spolansky’s story and looked for contradictions.
