The officer asked, “Do you know why I pulled you over?”
The driver replied, “Officer, I promise there’s a good reason.
My mother-in-law is in the back seat. She’s been staying with us for months, and today she finally agreed to go back home. I was afraid she’d change her mind if I didn’t get there fast enough.”
The officer looked into the back seat, nodded, and handed back the driver’s license.
“Sir,” he said, “forget the ticket.
I’ll clear the traffic and give you a police escort. We need to make sure you reach your destination without any delays!”
