A prominent doctor was giving a lecture to a packed auditorium on the hidden dangers of the modern diet.
“The stuff we put into our stomachs should have killed most of us years ago,” he boomed. “Red meat is pumped full of steroids, soda practically dissolves your stomach lining, Chinese food is loaded with MSG, and fast food is a cardiac arrest waiting to happen. None of us truly grasp the long-term damage we are doing to our bodies!”
He leaned over the podium, lowering his voice for dramatic effect. “But there is one specific food that is more dangerous than all of them combined. It causes the most excruciating, long-lasting pain, grief, and suffering for decades after you eat it. Can anyone in this room tell me what that food is?”
The auditorium fell dead silent.
After a long, tense pause, a frail seventy-year-old man in the front row slowly raised his hand.
“Yes, sir?” the doctor asked. “What food are you thinking of?”
The old man sighed deeply and replied, “That would have to be wedding cake.”
