An incredibly wealthy man hosted an extravagant party at his mansion, filling the estate with hundreds of guests. During the peak of the festivities, he gathered the crowd in his backyard next to a massive, eighty-foot swimming pool swarming with a hundred hungry alligators.
“I have more money than I could ever hope to spend, and frankly, I am bored,” the rich man announced. “So here is my challenge: I will give ten million dollars to anyone brave enough to swim across this pool and make it to the other side alive!”
The crowd went dead silent. Nobody was crazy or drunk enough to risk their life for a swim.
“Fair enough,” the rich man shrugged. “I didn’t think anyone would actually do it. Let’s head back inside for drinks.”
Just as the crowd started to turn back toward the mansion, a loud splash echoed through the yard.
The rich man pushed his way back to the edge of the pool. To his absolute disbelief, a young man was swimming like a speedboat, kicking up water and narrowly dodging snapping jaws. With superhuman speed, the man reached the other side, scrambled out of the water completely unharmed, and collapsed on the grass, gasping for air.
The host ran over, utterly amazed. “That was the most incredible thing I have ever seen! The ten million dollars is yours, no questions asked. But I have to know—what possessed you to take such a terrifying leap of faith?”
The young man finally caught his breath, stood up, wrung out his soaking wet shirt, and snarled,
“I just want to know who pushed me!”
