The Duchess of Sussex shared about her personal life in candid detail in an episode of her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.
After hearing the rare comments on a painful chapter of Markle’s life, people have taken to social media and shared their support.
One social media user commented: “Be kind to everyone. No one knows the things they are dealing with, ever.”
A second commented: “You stay strong, Meghan.”
“It’s very brave of you, Meghan, to talk about,” commented someone else. “Thank you.”
A fourth added: “Meghan is really strong. Thanks for speaking out.”
In a 2020 essay for The New York Times, Markle exposed that she lost her second child after feeling a ‘sharp cramp’ while changing her son Archie‘s diaper in July that year.
She remembered getting sick at their house in Los Angeles and then heading to the hospital.
The Duchess brought up the subject during her interview with Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code and a miscarriage survivor.
Markle said: “I’ve spoken about the miscarriage that we experienced, and I think in some parallel way, you have to learn to detach from the thing that you have so much promise and hope for, and to be able to be okay at a certain point to let something go, something that you planned to love for a long time.”
After hearing Markle’s viewpoint, Saujani answered: “I feel like you’re reading my diary, that’s really insightful.”
Prince Harry also spoke of the miscarriage in his memoir ‘Spare.’
He claimed that when they left the hospital with their “unborn child,” he “felt totally hopeless” and that he and Markle “both wept.”
“A tiny package,” Prince Harry penned. “We went to a place, a secret place only we knew.
“Under a spreading banyan tree, while Meg wept, I dug a hole with my hands and set the tiny package softly in the ground.”
Markle talks about this challenging time after revealing in the first episode of her podcast that she had a “huge medical scare” after giving birth.

Whitney Wolfe Herd, the creator of the dating service Bumble, and the Duchess discussed their “very similar experiences” with postpartum preeclampsia in their podcast.
“Postpartum preeclampsia is a rare condition that occurs when you have high blood pressure and excess protein in your urine soon after childbirth,” explains Mayo Clinic.
The condition demands prompt treatment. If left untreated, it can cause seizures and other serious complications.
“The world doesn’t know what’s happening quietly,” Markle said. “And in the quiet, you’re still trying to show up for people – mostly for your children – but those things are huge medical scares.”
