Princess Anne rushes to King Charles’s side after ‘brief’ hospital trip

Princess Anne visited her brother, King Charles, early this morning in London, just hours after the monarch was briefly admitted to the hospital due to side effects from his can.cer treatment. On Thursday night, Buckingham Palace provided an update on the King’s health, confirming that he had since returned to Clarence House to rest while he had postponed his planned engagements for the day. The King spent the night there with Queen Camilla, prioritizing his recovery.

King Charles in Good Spirits Despite Health Setback

Despite the brief hospitalization, King Charles appeared to be in good spirits. Around 10:30 AM, he was seen departing Clarence House for Highgrove, his countryside residence in Gloucestershire. Seated in the back of a black Audi, the King rolled down his window, waving and smiling warmly at the gathered crowd of well-wishers and photographers.

Just minutes before, Princess Anne was also spotted leaving in a black Bentley as she made her way to Buckingham Palace to host an investiture ceremony.

Reports indicate that King Charles, aged 76, remained in good form at his London home last night. He continued working on state papers and made phone calls from his study, showing his commitment to royal duties. Sources suggest he will likely continue official paperwork while recovering at Highgrove.

Buckingham Palace’s Statement on the King’s Health

A royal source described the recent health episode as a “minor bump in the road”, reassuring the public that the King’s recovery is progressing positively.

In an official statement, Buckingham Palace explained:

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for can.cer this morning, the King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

The statement further confirmed:

“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and, as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled. His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

Upcoming Royal Engagements and Future Plans

Despite the temporary setback, the King remains dedicated to his royal duties, and sources indicate that his historic state visit to Italy next month is still expected to proceed as planned.

While his recovery remains the priority, the King continues to balance his health needs with his responsibilities, offering reassurance to the public and the royal family.
