ᴄʜᴇᴀᴛɪɴɢ may be an extremely terrible experience, and no one wants to go through it. Exaggerated expectations, falling out of love, or low self-esteem are all common causes of marriage breakdown, and they continue to be the leading causes of divo:rce.
One man recently discovered that his wife had a large skeleton in the closet, and despite being blissfully married for 20 years, the desperate man cannot forgive her to this day.
Man’s marriage seemed to be extremely happy and satisfying all this time.
A 43-year-old guy has written to Reddit, hoping to receive solace and counsel from non-indifferent people. He and his 44-year-old wife had been happily married for 20 years. The man related his narrative, mentioning that he and his future wife-to-be began dating in high school when he was a junior and she was a senior. They lived far apart throughout his wife’s first two years of college while he was still in high school.
They both attended community college for one year before enrolling in college in the same city for another year. They’ve been living together since then. The pair married the summer after the male graduated college. Their marriage has been going well for both of them thus far, at least according to the man. He recently chose to begin the divo:rce process since he discovered that his wife had been unfaithful to him with many other men, and the period during which this occurred was the most devastating revelation for him.
The awful secret was revealed during an ordinary dinner with friends.
One day, shortly after Christmas, the spouses decided to meet with a few friends of the man’s wife who had known her since they were in college. They all meant to catch up, eat dinner, and hang out. They discussed a variety of topics while in one other’s company, and the man’s wife said that they met in high school. Her former college buddy thought it was bizarre that they met in high school, had a few wild years in college, and then ended up together. The man played along, saying he didn’t know if his wife was as insane as he was.
The roommate began to tell a story, but the man’s wife interrupted her and said she was uncomfortable with it. The gentleman wrote: “I sensed something was up, so I said that we started dating in high school and were together for my wife’s entire time at college.” All of her friends got real quiet and the dinner was awkward, “On the way out, one of her other roomates took me aside and said I should have ’an honest conversation’ about what happened at college.”
The man cannot come to terms with the recent revelation.
He wrote, “I asked my wife about it on the way home and she kind of blew me off. I told her it was important that she was honest with me, and again she said it wasn’t important. She said that the details of her college life weren’t important. When we got home, I told her I was going to stay at my brother’s house until she was ready to talk about what happened in college.”
The following day, she came over and confessed to ch3ating on her spouse with “several” men throughout her first two years of college. She stated it wasn’t a huge problem at the time because they were far apart and she didn’t think a high school romance would continue. The man pressed her for further information, and she revealed it was at least ten different men, including three individuals she introduced to him as friends when he came to visit on weekends, as well as one guy she was still in contact with. The man-made an urgent decision to file for divo:rce and planned to begin the papers as soon as possible.
Many people are now urging him that he should not end his marriage over a few faults. However, the man is adamant that che:ating on him with several men for years is wrong, regardless of when it occurred. And the fact that she continued to have connections with these individuals right in front of him was an unacceptable level of contempt. The couple has two children, but they are 17 and 19, and the man believes they will understand why he needs to quit the marriage.
